Torrie is using the stock turbo with a different impeller

So, given the special alloy in the turbo - is it a good idea to replace the internals?

+ 1 how much more power can a stock ecoboost engine handle ? before needed internals redone

Well. Stock ms3 internals can handle 350 whp

The ecoboost motor is a beefed up version of that motor

Someone is going to find out.

Go look at what the guys with other turbo cars are doing and you will see the possibilities.

I'm not concerned about the engine's (forged) internals, but the *turbo's*... if you swap out the stock super-alloy internals, are you going to hurt longevity?

Yes, but that is not the point. The point to to get more power.

If the new turbo wears out, you just put another one on there. If you are worried about longevity, don't mod your car. There is a reason it voids your warranty.

The point is to have *reliable* power.. who gets an ST to tow it to and from the track? Everybody wants to have that little bit extra, but *nobody* wants to swap turbos at every oil change.

If we can get 30 ponies from swapping turbo internals that's fantastic - even if the turbo fails at 180,000 instead of 190,000 miles. But if the turbo shatters on a hard track day and sends shrapnel into my engine because it couldn't take the heat - I'd be pretty upset.
