My 16 has nearly 20k on the clock and has never had issues. And I abuse this poor car. She's currently stage 2 Cobb. Stratified tune coming in the next week or so.

I'd love to see an enthusiasts edition. Shave as much weight as possible. Dump the "weenium" stereo, carpeting, back seats, power door locks and windows, moon roof, dashboard, interior panels, A/C and dual zone climate control, center console and basically make it a factory auto X car. should be good for a few hundred pounds right there. Relocate the battery to the back and offer up some light rim options, a proper LSD, bigger brakes, and a tighter suspension as options should you chose to at the dealership. I have next to no seat time yet (120 miles-ish) and I can already tell it would benefit from a diet. it would save a crap ton of materials at the factory and it would save us huge amounts of time and money after purchase.
    just my .02$
