I like a review that favors another car over mine AND confirms the reasons I bought mine...
Stupid review that makes no sense. They make it sound like daily driving is a chore because of torque steer. Well duh... if your going to red line every time you take off it would be a chore. Daily driving your not. Torque steer isn't an issue. Plus the mazda is so freaking fugly.
The front of the ST looks "angry" while the front of the MS3 looks like a "smirk".![]()
TB ST3
It's on the mod list
I have to agree the MS3 was easier to drive as a daily driver...throw it the highway at 80mph and the car tracked straight with no steering corrections. My ST requires near constant steering corrections. Same commute, same roads. Still love the ST, but there's something to be said for set it and forget it, and the MS3 is great in that respect
If your car requires constant steering corrections then there is something wrong with it. My ST is rock steady on the hiway. I would have the alignment checked and would suggest you have it set for the max with in spec toe in.
I have been driving FWD turbo cars continuously since May 85 and the ST is by far the easiest to live with as a daily driver, it's even more effortless than my wife's 12 Focus SEL because of the linear power delivery.
The ST compared to my other cars has no torque steer, Ford really did there homework with the torque steer control in the steering.

It's not alignment or torque steer...on glass smooth sections of highway it's fine...right up to triple digits. But on my normal commute, on admittedly lousy CA highways with tons of semi traffic, the car needs a noticeable amount of steering correction. My gen MS3 under the same conditions was rock solid over 106K miles. I'm not saying the ST is horrible, far from it. I'm just saying on a relative basis the MS3 was better.
i find his reasoning for liking the mazdaspeed as a daily interesting. I thought he was going to look at it in a practical sense. The Mazdaspeed has more room in it to me than the ST. Its funny what angle he took in comparison to other reviews and shootouts. As for the comments about the ST not having torque steer... pull up next to another car doing about 45 and stomp on it in 3rd. Notice the expression of the driver of the other car as you almost take his mirror out...
