Ford to offer "Performance Pack" on new ST

If you want to talk about a rip off. My dealer tried to charge $59 for nitrogen inflation. But on the wheels I would hope it would be these.

Not to link other forums here but "Chad" has a really nice thread of all the performance parts that Ford had at the SEMA show for the ST including lowering kits, coil overs, short throw shifter, brake packages, intake snorkel and other stuff.

This is an option I was looking forward to as it's already available in Europe (dark wheels and painted calipers)... but we didn't get it here. Now that we bought the car, they are offering it! WTF Ford?! And BTW, the option is not that costly in Europe... I think it's something like 300 Euros. I think the name of the package is just stupid... but I would have chosen it just so I did not have to paint the calipers myself this time around (and if paint peels of, I could have simply taken the car back to Ford for them to fix it!).

They aren't. The press release is undated, but look at the wording:

...18-inch alloy wheels carry on the recognized Focus ST style but subtle revisions bring them up-to-date for 2012

And the new signature production color, Tangerine Scream, reflects the exciting and energetic character of the Focus ST, but the other available colors – Performance Blue, Race Red and White

They wouldn't be talking about bringing something "up to date for 2012" now, or even at the end of last year. They would be looking ahead to 2013. And TS isn't exactly new anymore. Plus no mention of TB or IS. I'm sure this was an early press release and I bet the "Performance Pack" was axed to cut costs.

I agree about the wheels though... I like them sooo much better. I wish they had been an option.

The Performance Pack consists of red finish brake calipers. Come on Ford, are you kidding me? So when it's mentioned black wheels does that mean black rims?

The rim is "outer edge of a wheel holding the tire." The rim is a part of the wheel. So black wheels.
