How's the ST handle in the snow?

So has anyone had the pleasure of driving the Focus ST in the snow? How's it handle? Better or worse then you thought?

So everyone is upset with the engine mount when shifting 2nd...wait until you start driving in the snow with tire spin and hitting ice then asphalt. I bet the clunking will get unbearable.

Yea thats gonna be pretty bad. Luckily these cars seem to pull decently from 2nd gear...of course going into 3rd (after said wheelspin) will still be an audible and haptic reminder of all that movement... granny shifts for the win I guess.

I've only had the car for 4 days now (550 miles) but it handles very, very well in the winter. I live in Canada, it snowed almost a foot this week alone!
I have Michelin Latitude Alpin HP winter tires (don't even think about leaving the Goodyears on. I refused to test drive the car until they put those tires on it).
Wheels spin is very manageable ( I was worried about the clutch engagement, but no problems). But just be careful that your wheels are not spinning when shifting; the owner's manual says that shifting while the wheels are spinning is bad for the transmission.
I can't believe how easy it is to swing around corners (with traction), just jerk the wheel! So much fun! But if you don't have traction on entry, you will understeer through the turn just like any other car.
I cannot wait to drive this car on dry pavement as opposed to ice.

Anyone able to comment on why that would be?

I'm going to guess it would be spinning the wheels and having them bite unpredictably, causing a sudden load through the driveline? Anyway, it's snowed like crazy here and the car handles very well in the soft stuff. The traction control is manageable, and it helps the car from understeering into oblivion if you go in over your head. That said, the car is actually pretty tail happy if you are into rally style cornering, and you can get it into a fairly good slide before big brother takes over.
